UniCem plans to start a New Cement Production Line

UniCem, the United Cement Company of Nigeria, is holding a ground-breaking ceremony on 2ndSeptember for the new 2.5 million t cement production line in Akamkpa, Nigeria. Currently, the company operates a 2.5 million tones cement plant in Mfamosing, and also in Akamkpa and produces CEM II 32.5 R and CEM II 42.5 N. When the new line will start then the cement company’s production capacity will be double and bring it to third place in the Nigerian cement industry, is reportedly scheduled to commence production by 2016. The line is receiving an investment of some N84 billion – considerably more than the N46.2 billion spent on the Mfamosing plant, which was completed in 2009.
